Research coordinator: Manfred JeusfeldThe research conducted by the Information Management (IM) Group can be summarized as follows: "explain, predict, design and develop, and thus improve the impact of ICT on the performance of teams, organizations, and networks of organizations".
The principal objective of this research group is to contribute to a wide variety of research issues related to interdisciplinary research and development in Information Systems (IS)/ Information Management (IM) and influence the future prospects and development of the field at an international level. In particular, the research undertaken by CIS aims at producing new concepts and methodologies, and developing cutting edge technology with wide applicability that addresses challenging research problems.
It aims at advancing the current state of the art regarding the application, content, and delivery of information and information systems originating from diverse organizations, improving the art of decision making and integrating new technologies into the business practice. Problems and considerations that CIS addresses apply equally well to medium-sized companies with network-based systems and to large organizations seeking to engage in the practices of international electronic commerce and become global businesses.
The targeted areas of research are summarized in the following broad categories:
- Business Process Management, Component Systems, Interoperability and Legacy integration
- Planning and implementation of large scale IS infrastructures
- Electronic Commerce/Business: value system integration, supply chain management, development of networked organizations and electronic markets
- IT governance in the Networked Organization: methods and tools, structures and processes.
